The long-awaited XVIII World Water Congress is less than 30 days away. On 11th August 2023, one month before the opening, the Congress´s Third Announcement was launched, releasing more details and updates to all participants.

Beijing welcomes you! Participants from over 60 countries and more than 30 international organisations are expected at the Congress, where they will be contributing with ideas and strategies for sustainable global water resource management and use.

Responding to a wide range of issues, the announcement updates the lists of invited high-level speakers, and international organisations which will be taking part in the Congress. UN Under-Secretary-General Li Junhua, senior representatives of UNESCO, and ministers of water-related departments from several countries will also attend the Congress. More than 50 water-related professional organisations and teams from around the world will host over 80 special sessions and side events, including the Asian Development Bank, Wuhan University from China, UNESCO, the World Water Council, the Embassy of Denmark in China, and many more. The Ministry of Water Resources of China will be hosting a special session for China and, the IWRA's World Water Envoys will organize a memorable special session where they will showcase the difficult water issues they and their communities face, and the solutions they are exploring when it comes to balancing water needs of humans and nature. This diverse participation reflects the international community's consensus to address water challenges together.

The Third Announcement also provides detailed information on the venue, accommodation, transportation, field trips and the exhibition., as well an introduction of Beijing’s popular and historical sites. This information is aimed at helping you in your preparations before your arrival.
