Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation (CWCA) of the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Thailand is pleased to announce a Special session at the upcoming 18th World Water Congress on 11-15 September 2023 in Beijing, China. The session is being organized in association with (i) the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Nature Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), China, (ii) Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology, National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, (iii) Institute of Geology, National Academy of Sciences of the Kyrgyz Republic (NAS KR), and (iv) Department of Space Science, Institute of Space Technology, Islamabad Pakistan.
The special session will feature a prominent keynote and panel discussion on the burning issue of climate change challenges to sustainable development. The session will bring together experts and practitioners to discuss the latest research on climate change impacts and adaptation strategies and share knowledge and experiences on climate change risk and countermeasures. The proposed session is aligned with sub-theme 3, “Building Resilience forDisaster Prevention and Mitigation”, of the Congress and will cover the topics on climatechange impacts and their consequences for communities, strategies for building resilience, and best practices for adapting to changing climatic conditions. The session will also facilitate the development of new partnerships and collaborations among participants and professionals working in the field.

The Centre for Water and Climate Adaptation (CWCA) is one of the outreach centres at AIT and contributes to three core domains of research, capacity building, and consultancy.
