Professor Nancy Kwan MAN is currently the Chair Professor of Transplant Oncology and Immunology in Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine, LKS Faculty of Medicine, the University of Hong Kong (HKU). She is the Director of Clinical and Translational Research, Director of the Laboratory for Liver Transplantation and Liver Cancer, Director of the Laboratory for Organ Transplantation and Tissue Regeneration of HKU. She is also the President of Hong Kong Society for Immunology (HKSI), and President of Hong Kong Association of Scientist (HKSA). She was the President of International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) (2018-2019).
Nancy is well-recognized internationally for the advancements of liver transplantation research. Her innovative development and successful application of integrated clinical, translational and basic research for liver graft injury and cancer recurrence after transplantation, has resulted in major advances and impact on transplant oncology and immunology in the world. Her research achievements have been dully recognized by her numerous prestigious international awards, invited plenary and state-of-art lectures in leading congresses of transplantation, leaderships of international academic societies, journal editorship and leading role of international consensus/guideline of transplant oncology and immunology.
She has published more than 220 papers in international journals including Transplantation, Liver Transplantation, Annals of Surgery, JAMA Surgery, Clinical Cancer Research, Cancer Research, Small, Theranostics, Journal of Hepatology, Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Nature Medicine & New England Journal of Medicine etc with H index 76 (total citation > 17600). She is one of the Top 1% Scholars at University of Hong Kong according to ISI’s Essential Science Indicators during 2013-2019, and she is also in the top 2% Scientists Worldwide on Stanford List during 2020-24. She is the highly Ranked Scholar - Lifetime in ScholarGPS®, especially for the category of Liver Tumor.
She and her research team have obtained more than 70 international awards including numerous “Rising Star Awards”, “Young Investigator Awards” in annual congress of ILTS, and “Mentee-Mentor Basic Science Awards”, “Young Investigator Awards” In TTS meetings. She has also got the “First Class Award of 2013 Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Award from Ministry of Education (MOE)” and “First Class Award for Science and Technology of Chinese Medical Association (CAE) 2014“. Her innovative translational research in cancer immunology has been also recognized by the Golden Medal from Geneva International Invention 2024 and Grand Prize from Chinese Association of Invention 2024.
